Information for new athletes

Competition is at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Narrabeen on Saturdays. Please note, only U12 – U17 are eligible for Javelin.

Ensure you check in using the QR code posters on entry, and check out again when leaving.

Children are to meet their age manager (holding the correct age flag) behind the high jump mats on arrival, who will then take them through their events for the morning. The weekly program will be on display at a table inside the main gate and their first for the day will be highlighted.

Athletics is a summer sport and it can get quite hot out in the middle of the field.  Please remember to provide your child with plenty of water, a snack and a hat.  Don’t forget to cover them in plenty of sunscreen as well.

On Saturday the children are required to wear their full Wakehurst uniform.  This includes their athlete number, to be attached to the front of their singlet or crop top, and their age patch which must be attached to the left hand leg of their shorts or briefs.  An athlete cannot compete without these numbers.

For safety reasons, parents are not allowed to accompany their children on to the track unless they are signed in as a parent helper.  Parent helpers who are rostered on for a duty will be required to sign-in at the track and receive a “Parent Helper” bib to wear while on the field.
